On October 15, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Kemelovich Tokayev opened a new exposition of the Abai Museum. Together with the President, Secretary of State K. Kusherbayev, Minister of Culture and Sports A. Raimkulova got acquainted with the modern exposition of the museum dedicated to the life and work of the poet.

– The Great Abai – not only pride of our country, but also a world-class genius. This is a personality immersed in the depths of the Kazakh soul. His poems and obscene words are a mirror of our national identity. As the founder of our new literature, Abai left a special mark on the history of the country. His works have not lost their relevance for more than a century. This is still spiritual source for all of us. The teaching life and rich heritage of the poet is the treasure of our people and the world. Abai ‘s will is the  bright star for the younger generation, “said Kassym-Zhomart Tokaev.

The head of state also met with Aidos Ernestovich Akylbaev, a descendant of Abai  Kunanbayev, in the “Poet’s Family” hall. Then exhibits were presented in the halls of the museum, equipped with all modern equipment, and detailed information was given about the life and work of the great thinker.

The President said that it is only possible to revive public consciousness if we get rid of the five obstacles to development and work in the interests of the country, and we must be faithful to the legacy of Abai . He noted that the stability of the system “Responsible State – Responsible Society – Responsible Person” depends on the noble qualities of the poet, and highly appreciated the work of the multimedia hall.

One of the institutions founded 80 years ago is the Historical-Cultural and Literary-Memorial Museum-Reserve of Abai in Semey. The total number of exhibits in the museum fund is 21832, the book fund is 14743 books. The Abai Museum was created on the eve of the 95th anniversary of Abai at the suggestion of the great Kazakh writer M.O. Auezov, on the basis of the decree of the Council of People’s Commissars of the Kazakh SSR of April 1, 1940 and opened on October 16 of the same year.

This is the first literary museum in the history of Kazakhstan. In 1990, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Abai , by the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR, the poet’s literary and memorial museum was reorganized into the State Historical-Cultural and Literary-Memorial Museum-Reserve of Abai “Zhidebai-Borili.” Today, the museum has grown from a literary and memorial museum to one of the largest reserves in the country. The reserve-museum includes 8 museums located in Semey, Abai and Urdzhar districts of the East Kazakhstan region.

This year, on the eve of the 175th anniversary of Abai  Kunanbayev, by decree of President K. Tokayev of May 30, 2019 the Abai Museum was completely reconstructed. Also, as indicated in the article “Abai and Kazakhstan in the XXI century,” a scientific and educational center was organized in the building of the merchant’s house on the territory of the museum. On the territory of the museum, the Ahmet Riza Madrasah, where Abai studied, was also reconstructed.

The new museum exposition in the dome building is located in 11 halls. In particular: “Abai. Seasons “,” Steppe Melodies, “” Childhood of the Poet, “” Formation of the Poet, “” Abai’s Work, “” Abai’s Poetry School, “” Abai’s Family, “” Words, “” Abai’s Legacy, “” Multimedia Hall “and” Children’s Room. ”

In the scientific and educational center in the building of the Merchant House are located “Abai Studies,” “Independence and Abai Studies,” “Gallery.” Abai in the visual arts “,” Exhibition Hall “,” History of Madrasas “,” Abai and the East “,” Children’s Creativity “will be presented in the madrasah.

Information about the life and work of the poet is posted in each hall. In addition, the poet’s legacy will be promoted to visitors in a new format using modern equipment. On touch screens you can see and listen to Abai’s songs and melodies, his treasures in three languages. A projector was installed at 360 degrees, through which viewers could read wise words from the edification of the poet and receive the blessing through a special device. For young visitors to the museum there is even a playground where the favorite game of Abai is togyzkumalak.

As a result of the joint work of the contractor BF CREAGROUP and the scientific team of the Abai Museum  the poet’s museum is ready to welcome its guests with a new appearance.
