«The sage of abai studies»
The Abai «Zhidebai – Borili» State Museum – Reserve hosted the event «The Sage of Abai Studies», dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Beken Isabayuly – an Abai scholar, teacher, and museum veteran.
The literary evening was opened by the director of the Abai Museum – Reserve, U. Sagadiev, followed by a speech from the head of the «Alash Arystary – M. Auezov» museum department, K. Kiyikbay, who presented a report on the life and work of B. Isabayuly.
Prominent guests shared their memories, including the Chairman of the Public Council of Abai District, T. Amangazin; Professor and Candidate of Historical Sciences, M. Karimov; the director of the «An Ata» Public Foundation and artist, K. Ibraev; renowned journalist K. Amanzhol; Daryn award laureate, cultural excellence awardee, and literary critic from the M. Auezov Institute of Literature, B. Tursynbaiuly; Honored Educator of Kazakhstan and head of the M. Auezov House – Museum in Borili; and Beken Isabayuly’s son, Shagzhan Isabayev.
During the event, Sh. Bekenuly presented journalist K. Amanzhol with a dombra. A literary composition based on B. Isabayuly’s works, performed by students of the M. Tolebaev Music College, resonated deeply with the audience.
Singer A. Bauyrzhanuly, a laureate of international and national competitions and performer from the City Palace of Culture, sang Abai’s song *
«Kok tuman – aldindagy keler zaman». E. Zhumabayev, a singer from the House of Culture in the village of Qaskabulak, Abai District, performed «Shyngystauga naz», with lyrics by B. Isabayuly and music by E. Kadylbek. Laureate of the Zheniskhanuly competition performed Abai’s songs «Segiz ayak» and «Aqylbai’s Ani», showcasing his talents.
The exhibition featured manuscripts, memoirs detailing B. Isabayuly’s life and creative legacy, his dombra, chapan, skullcap, personal belongings donated by his son Shagzhan Bekenuly, as well as books published over the years and rare photographs.
The event was attended by members of the Abai region and Semey city intelligentsia, cultural and artistic institution representatives, and students.
Residents of Semey and museum guests will have the opportunity to visit the exhibition for one month.
