In the state historical, cultural, literary and memorial museum-reserve “Zhidebay-Borili” of Abai organized a book exhibition on the theme “State symbols-national values”, dedicated to the day of state symbols on June 4.
This day will forever be remembered on the pages of history as the day of the birth of the state symbols of the country – the flag, emblem, anthem.
To select three state symbols, in early 1992, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet created a working group and appointed a special creative Commission. After that, a competition was announced for versions of the emblem, flag, anthem throughout Kazakhstan. Only one flag received 1,200 variants from 600 people, 245 projects of the emblem and 750 samples of the anthem took part in the competition.
On June 6, in the beautiful building of the Abai opera and Ballet Theater in Almaty, a presentation ceremony of the first state symbols of our independent country was held and announced to the world. The national flag was raised on the roof of the presidential palace and the House of Parliament. The emblem was established, and the anthem sounded in the sky of the sovereign country.
Since those stellar days, June 4 has taken its place on the golden pages of our history as the day of state symbols of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The exhibition featured works by E. Sh.Shaimerdenov “symbols of the Kazakh country”, “national anthem of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, photographs, etc.
