On July 23 at 11:00 AM, the opening of the exhibition «The World of Abai and Yassawi» took place at the State Historical, Cultural, and Literary-Memorial Museum-Reserve «Zhidebai-Borili» under the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The exhibition was organized in cooperation with the National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve «Aziret Sultan».
This event coincided with a large-scale campaign-challenge titled «Ulagatty ölke – Abai, ulylar mekeni – Semey» («The Land of Mentors – Abai, the Land of the Great – Semey»), initiated by the Veterans’ Council of the city of Semey.
The opening ceremony was attended by honorary citizens of Semey, representatives of the cultural sphere, and school students. Hikmets and poems of the two great thinkers were recited, and a song by Abai was performed.
Visitors had the opportunity to view manuscripts, memoirs, musical instruments, and photographs from the museum’s collection related to Abai Kunanbaiuly, as well as valuable exhibits illuminating the wise life and rich legacy of the great Ahmad Yassawi, including rare manuscripts from the 12th to the 19th centuries.
