MONUMENT “FIGURES IN THE HISTORY OF THE MUSEUM”
On October 22, as part of the celebration of the 85th anniversary of the State Museum-Reserve of Abai “Zhidebai-Borili,” the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan inaugurated a commemorative plaque titled “Figures in the History of the Museum.”
In this sacred place that connects visitors to the spiritual world of Abai, the names of distinguished scholars and researchers who made great contributions to the museum — Arkham Ysakov, Khaim Mukhamedkhanuly, and Boris Akkerman — were immortalized.
Since the 1950s, many prominent Abai scholars have left their mark in the history of the museum, including Akhat Shakarimuly, Argyngazy Kaysakanov, Niyazbek Aldazharov, Muzdybai Beysenbayev, Kashaf Tuganbaev, Token Ibragimov, Beken Isabaev, Gizat Kuzembayev, Orazbek Bekbosynov, and Maiken Zhunisova.
The plaque unveiling ceremony was attended by Doctor of Philology, Professor Arap Slamuly Espenbetov; respected elder of Abai region Moldabek Zhanbolatov; Niyazbek Aldazharov’s daughter Saule Aldazharova; Arkham Kakitauly’s grandson Rymbek Baizakov; veteran museum worker Marzhan Mukhamedova; museum director Ulan Bolatuly; and Head of the Department of Culture, Language Development and Archives of Abai Region Zhanzhigit Omarkhan.
During the event, the museum director emphasized that it is the museum’s duty to honor and promote the legacy of the great figures who laid its foundation and contributed to its growth. Descendants of Abai scholars and researchers expressed their gratitude for preserving the memory of those who dedicated their lives to the development of the museum.
