LITERARY EVENING UNDER THE TITLE”ADALDYK ABAI: ARHAM KAKITAYULY”

This year marks the 85th anniversary of the opening of the Abai Museum. In honor of this milestone, and to pay tribute to those who have made significant contributions to the museum’s development, a literary evening dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the birth of Abai scholar and writer Arkham Kakitaiuly was held on October 17 at the Abai “Zhidebai-Borili” State Historical, Cultural, and Literary-Memorial Museum-Reserve of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event was titled “Loyalty to Abai: Arkham Kakitaiuly.”

       The life of Arkham Kakitaiuly is closely connected with the Abai Museum. He made a great contribution to the founding and establishment of the museum. From its opening in 1940 until 1948, Arkham Kakitaiuly worked as a research associate.

       The literary evening opened with welcoming remarks from M. Kairambayeva, Deputy Director of the Abai Museum for Scientific Work. During the event, chronicler, writer, and teacher M. Zhanbolatuly; literary scholar and journalists A. Myrzakasym, B. Tastekeyev, D. Tokkarin; the writer’s granddaughter B. Shagataeva; and his nephew R. Baizakov shared their memories, expressed gratitude to the museum staff, and presented a portrait of Shakarim as a gift.

       As part of the evening, a presentation ceremony of the collected works of Arkham Kakitaiuly took place. The event was enriched by performances from Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, traditional singer K. Kabyshev, who performed the songs “Kunanbai” and “Segiz Ayak”; A. Kashaubaev Philharmonic’s traditional singer B. Tuktibayev with the song “Kozimnin Karasy”; and the writer’s granddaughter B. Shagataeva, who performed “Tatyana’s Words.”

       The event was attended by representatives of the city’s intelligentsia, the writer’s relatives, cultural institution employees, and students.
