ABAI’S LEGACY IN URALSK

May 18 – The exhibition “Semey dese, Abai dep karaidy adam…” of the State historical-cultural and literary-memorial museum-reserve of Abai “Zhidebai-Borili” dedicated to the International Museum Day opened in the West Kazakhstan Regional Museum of Local Lore in Uralsk. The exposition includes valuable manuscripts about the life and work of A.Kunanbayuly, stored in the fund of the Abai Museum, exhibits transferred by the poet in 1885 to the Museum of Local Lore. There was also a lot of information about the poet’s father Kunanbai Uskenbaiuly, Abai’s work and about the Abai Museum, which has a history of more than 80 years. The solemn event was attended by representatives of the intelligentsia of Uralsk, local historians, professors of the West Kazakhstan University, candidates of philosophical Sciences M. Sydykov, head of the Regional Department of Culture S. Duysenov and students. The chief curator of the Abai Museum Fund M. Ablambayeva congratulated colleagues from Uralsk on the holiday and presented letters of thanks and gifts on behalf of the director of the Museum of Local Lore Mirbolat Bizhanuly. The exhibition was presented to the participants by A. Zhakupova, a researcher at the museum. The exhibition will be presented to the public in Uralsk within a month.
