The academic legacy of Muzdybay Beysenbay and the Abai museum

Today the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan opened an exhibition titled “The Abai Museum and Muzdybay Beysenbay” at the State Museum-Reserve of Abai “Zhidebai-Borili” to mark October 16, the founding day of the Abai Museum and the 95th anniversary of the birth of Abai scholar and researcher Muzdybay Beysenbay.

At the exhibition’s opening, the museum director U. Sagadiev, Doctor of Philology and Professor A. Espenbetov, and veteran of the Abai Museum M. Mukhamedova highlighted Muzdybay Beysenbay’s significant contribution as a literary scholar and Abai researcher in gathering and studying Abai’s legacy. The researcher’s son, S. Muzdybay, also expressed gratitude to the museum staff for organizing the exhibition and honoring the memory of his father.

Muzdybay Beysenbay was one of the researchers who worked on updating the Abai Museum’s exhibits. He searched archives in the cities of Semey, Almaty, Omsk, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Tyumen-Tobol, Tomsk, Kazan and Tashkent, bringing into academic circulation many valuable materials stored there.

The exhibition “The Abai Museum and Muzdybay Beysenbay” showcases the museum professional’s personal belongings, valuable archival materials from his research trips, and his scientific works. Visitors also had the opportunity to explore memories and testimonials from his contemporaries about the life and work of the prominent Abai scholar.
